The “Judas Kiss” of Egypt

One day Egypt will betray Israel in such a way to anger the Lord, that He will bring swift destruction to them from which the country will remain a desolation for 40 years into the millennial reign.

Egypt has held a peace agreement with Israel for the last 47 years with the signing at the Camp David accords of March 1979. However, Egypt has a spirit of betrayal that has grown stronger with time.

Egypt’s military has grown stronger in the recent years to become one of the most powerful in the region.  In response to the Israeli war with Hamas, Egypt recently had another military buildup in the Sinai Peninsula under the pretext to “prevent Gazans” from breaking into Sinia from the Israeli border. This was a direct violation of their peace treaty. This has happened a few times in the past since 2013 under the pretext of fighting ISIS. Sinai was supposed to be a demilitarized buffer zone between the two countries. Egypt has also held military exercises and war games with the enemy always as Israel.  In recent years, Egypt has also dug underground tunnels under the Suez Canal adjacent to Sinai which would allow for its military to cross in a short time.

After Israel, Egypt is the largest recipient of U.S. military aid; around $1.5 billion per year. The U.S. also has military bases in Egypt. Essentially, Egypt is seen as an “ally” to the U.S. and as a “moderate” within the surrounding Arab nations. In January of 2024, Egypt joined BRICS, a coalition formed by Russia to deter the U.S. dollar. In December of 2024, Egypt held a summit meeting with 8 Islamic nations including the heads of Turkey, Iran, and the Palestinian Authority, all sworn enemies of Israel. Back in February when President Trump suggested moving the Gazan refugees into Egypt, President Sisi canceled his planned visit to the U.S., making a very strong statement to a supposed ally. To make matters worse, in mid-April, Egypt conducted joint naval military drills in the Mediterranean Sea with Russia called Friendship Bridge. Keep in mind the Russians lost their military base on the coast of Syria recently after the fall of the Assad regime. Two days after this event, Egypt conducted their first ever military air drills with the Chinese air force called Eagles of Civilization 2025.

Egypt can no longer be seen as a “pro-western moderate Arab nation”. That Spirit of betrayal never left Egypt since the days of the Exodus. Throughout their history, Israel seemed not to learn their lesson.

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. Isaiah 30:1-3. (past event)
And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest? I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me? Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. Isaiah 36:4-6 (past event)

Pharaoh king of Egypt lives on in spirit as one of the 7 heads of the beast of Revelation, the dragon of the sea, and is the only head “named”. From the beginning of God’s people with the Exodus to the end of His people unto Salvation, the Spirit of Pharoah will finally meet his demise.

In the tenth year, in the tenth month, in the twelfth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against all Egypt: Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales. And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven. And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee. And the land of Egypt shall be desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it. Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia. No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years. And I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate forty years: and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. Ezekiel 29:1-12. (future event)

When they took hold of thee by thy hand

Ezekiel 29, a most fascinating prophecy about the destruction of Egypt has been partially fulfilled. The bible says

“And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.” Eze 29:6

A staff is something you lean on for support and a partial definition of the use of the word “reed” in the Hebrew text is defined as a bone or shoulder joint. Israel has been leaning on Egypt for support since the summer of 2014 when Egypt’s head of government Al-Sisi, publicly announced a role in “protecting” Israel’s southern border at the Rafah Border Crossing to the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula. This has led to an ongoing warming of relations between the two countries where they share intelligence information concerning ISIS, Hamas, and Fatah. Recently Egypt agreed to extend the Egyptian side of the Gaza Strip buffer zone 1500 meters in width, instead of 1000 meters.

News article after article outlining the “friendly” relations between Egypt and Israel has been steady since that summer of 2014. The bible goes on to say

When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins to be at a stand.” Eze 29:7

On September 18th of this year, Netanyahu representing Israel and El-Sisi representing Egypt, met in New York for 90 minutes Monday night on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. This was their first public working session.

Egypt’s Betrayal

There is much prophecy yet to be fulfilled concerning Egypt in the last days. The titles of two recent news articles eerily appertain to one of the prophecy’s in Ezekiel 29. You can get a refresh on that prophecy here https://lookingforthatblessedhope.com/2015/04/07/thou-didst-break/

At the time of the post above a news article dated April of 2015 stated Egypt was preparing for war with Israel. It has now been almost a year. Here are the more recent news articles related to the prophecy.

Dated 2/29/2016

The Israeli-Egyptian love affair

  • Egypt’s higher stratums view Israel as an important, powerful ally in regional struggles. Egyptian President Sisi, in an interview with the Washington Post in March 2015, said he speaks to Prime Minister Netanyahu frequently, sometimes several times a month. In reality, Sisi talks to Netanyahu even more than that, and not only to Netanyahu.
  • On the list of Egypt’s close allies, Israel is a front-runner. Many of the interests of the two countries have converged and complement one another. Even the list of enemies held by Israel and Egypt includes the same names, more or less.
  • “Sisi understands the situation,” said a high-ranking Israeli security source. “He knows exactly whom he can trust in the region and whom he can’t. He knows what’s good for Egypt and, under the correct circumstances, what’s good for Egypt is also good for Israel.”
  • Sisi is also well-acquainted with Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot. They once served in parallel positions in the Israel Defense Forces and the Egyptian army and their cooperation extends over many years.
  • Intelligence information is almost totally shared between the sides with regard to the struggle against the Islamic State (IS) branch in the Sinai Peninsula. Israel and Egypt also rely on one another in their joint struggle against Hamas.
  • According to a high-placed Israeli military source, “The efficacy of the Egyptian army in its war against IS is gradually improving. This is true for intelligence, for preciseness and for rapid response. The Egyptians know that Gaza’s Hamas provides IS with military experts, they know that wounded Sinai IS operatives are treated in Gaza, they know that there is a direct, close connection between the sides. Thus, they try to block all passageways between the Gaza Strip and Sinai.”

Egypt and Israel: A lover and his mistress

  • Israel is actually a close friend, maintaining an intimate, and sometimes very intimate, relationship with Egypt. At least that’s how Jerusalem sees it.
  • As far as the Egyptians are concerned, Israel has the same status as a mistress. It is only behind closed doors, in the innermost sanctum of the bedroom, that the lover opens up to her, pours out his heart and sometimes even puts his life in her hands. There is nothing to prevent Egypt from exchanging intelligence with Israel or cooperating with it in the fight against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Iran’s influence in the region or Sunni radicals in the Sinai Peninsula. The two countries might even work together to steal a horse or two from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. But all that happens under the cover of night. God forbid that news of it gets out, because if it did, the man would be branded with an indelible mark of shame.

March of 2019 will mark the 40th year anniversary of the historic US-sponsored peace treaty between Israel and Egypt.
